My passion for naturopathic medicine began in the foothills of the Himalayan mountains. An honors thesis paper sent me on a field study to see malnutrition firsthand in the impoverished district of Humla, where my eyes were opened to an entirely deeper dilemma: a desperate need for doctors...
Villagers constantly approached me complaining of joint pains, stomach aches, headaches, pregnancy concerns, etc. Having nothing but a nutrition degree left me feeling utterly helpless.
"These people need a doctor"
...But with no wifi, cell phone service, internet, x-ray machines, or pharmacies, what does it look like to be a doctor in an untouched place like Humla?
